August Book of the Month

August 08, 2024

Looking for a quick read for some end of summer reading?  Pick up a copy of “One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich” by Alexander Solzhenitsyn.  One of the most significant literary works ever to emerge from Soviet Russia, it provides a detailed view of life in a Soviet era gulag, and a single human's will to prevail over relentless challenges.  It only about two-hundred pages long and reads like Ernest Hemingway’s “The Old Man and the Sea” in Siberia.  Dave Troy finds it one of the most hopeful and inspirational books about the human spirit, and our ability to overcome seemingly impossible adversity.
